DISCOVER COLCHESTER
The Colchester Land Trust is sponsoring a program called
“Discover Colchester” that will explore the many different
areas of scenic beauty that are found right here in Colchester.

Each month, a member of the Colchester Land Trust will lead an approximate one-hour hike, bike ride or adventure on the first Sunday of each month at 1pm. These excursions are free and open to the public, and they are designed to introduce adults and children to the many aspects of Colchester that make it one of the top 100 towns to live in the US. The program will encourage outdoor activity, develop new friendships, and foster an appreciation for the value of preserving open space in Colchester.

LAND TRUST HIKE ON THE COLCHESTER SPUR OF THE AIRLINE TRAIL
Sunday, February 5th at 1pm

The hikers will meet at the Airline Trail Colchester Spur trailhead parking area behind the International Package Store at 199 Lebanon Avenue. The hikers will walk about a mile and a half on the Airline Trail Spur to where it crosses the Colchester Fish and Game and Zagray Farm properties and then walk back to the trailhead for a total hike of about 3 miles. The hike is on level terrain and dogs on leashes are welcome. Heavy snow or rain will cancel this hike.

At the start of the hike a very brief talk about the history of the Colchester railroad spur, especially in regard to the Hayward Rubber Company, will be provided. Also the location of the Colchester Dog Park will be pointed out and a second brief talk will be provided in the vicinity of the Zagray Farm property.

Directions: The Airline Trail Colchester Spur trailhead is on the North side of Lebanon Avenue less than half a mile east of the Colchester Green. There is a sign on Lebanon Avenue for the Airline Trail and a dirt driveway leading to the trailhead parking area.
