Join your host, Liza Sivek, for an Owl Prowl under the rare Blue Moon at Bulkeley Hill Preserve, Colchester!
Meet at the Bulkeley Hill Preserve outdoor classroom at s7:30 pm. For the first few minutes we will talk about the different wildlife we may see and hear in the preserve, what owls are native to Colchester, and facts about Connecticut owls and the threats to their numbers. "Happy owl hour" soft drinks and snacks will be provided by the hike leader, or BYO.
We will follow the talk with a moonlit hike through the BHP trails , using recorded barred owl calls to attract our local resident owls. We have had good luck attracting them and getting answering calls by the end of the hike. This is a relatively quiet hike, not appropriate for very small children, not stroller friendly.
