Join board member Sarah Levine and for an educational hike to, and discussion about, the ecologically important Beaver Pond on Bulkeley Hill Preserve. Learn about the habitats and behaviors or our nocturnal "workers", their importance in the ecosystem, and the surrounding habitats.
Directions:
- The preserve is not assigned a street number so for GPS please use the mailbox at 243 Bulkeley Hill Road, Colchester, 06415. The preserve lot is directly across from the mailbox. The parking lot is a gravelled space for several cars. Meet up at the trailhead sign.
- From Rt. 2 to Rt. 16/Middletown Ave, turn right Bulkeley Hill Road and go about 1.5 miles, the lot will be on your right.
Please note:
- Moderate elevation, non-groomed dirt trail with rocks and roots.
- Please dress for the weather and wear appropriate boots or sneakers.
- Tick protection is strongly suggested in all seasons. They are tenacious buggers, literally.
- Cameras (with no flash), video recordings, and a fascination with nature encouraged. Please share your photos and videos with us on our social media.
